18 dead, many injured in under construction flyover collapse in Varanasi
A part of a under construction flyover has fallen in Varanasi. According to the preliminary information, 18 people have died in this accident while 3 people have been rescued from the rubble. Some people are still under the rubble. This flyover was being constructed near Cantt railway station. Varanasi is a parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state’s CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief at the accident and has assured every possible help.
Till now, 18 bodies have been removed from the inside of the submersible under the pillar. According to the NDRF engaged in relief and rescue operations, the number of dead can increase further.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has reached the spot. He said that the team has been formed to investigate the incident, and whoever is found guilty will not be spared.
7 teams of NDRF have been installed to remove the stranded vehicles under the pillar. About 325 relief workers are engaged in rescue operations. NHAI crane has reached the spot to remove the pillar that has fallen on the vehicles. This crane is capable of lifting up to 200 tons.
According to the information, part of the bridge fell on the vehicles going down, after which a lot of people were buried under the debris. Llocals present on the occasion are engaged in relief and rescue work. Administration and rescue teams have also reached the spot.

Prime Minister Modi also tweeted that he had instructed the local authorities to provide every possible help to the victims. The PM said that Yogi Adityanath has also spoken and the state government is keeping an eye on the incident.
