Air India opens booking for domestic flights from May 4 onwards

Government owned airline Air India has started its booking for domestic flights from Saturday. With this, booking has also started for select routes in the international sector. The company said that it will start its airline on select routes in the domestic sector from May 4 and on international routes from June 1.

According to the information available on the company’s website, “In view of the current global health concerns, we have stopped booking all our domestic flights till 3 May 2020 and international flights till 3 May 2020.”

According to the statement, “flights will be available from May 4 for travel on select domestic air routes and from June 1 for international travel.”

To prevent the community outbreak of the corona virus pandemic, the central government announced a 21-day lockdown on March 25, which was extended by 19 days to May 3. During this time, all types of public transport, railways and air routes were banned in the country. Only movement of essential services was allowed during this period.

All guidelines will be followed

A senior company official told that initially flights connecting metro cities will be started. Later, given the situation, the number of flights will be increased. He informed that all the guidelines of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Ministry of Health will be followed for the flights. It also includes guidelines on cleanliness in the aircraft, ensuring social distance between passengers during check-in and boarding, and leaving the middle seat empty on the plane.
