Amid the ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned. Students across the country have been protesting for several days over the NEET paper leak. A large number of students are participating in the protest at Jantar Mantar. The students’ primary demand was the resignation of Education Minister Pradhan. Pradhan resigned from his ministerial post on Saturday afternoon. In his resignation letter, he stated that youth power is the country’s true strength and that the events of the past 10 days have saddened him.
In a post shared on social media, Dharmendra Pradhan said, “My young friends, I have been dedicated to students, teachers, and education reform for over four decades. I have always believed that a strong, inclusive, and visionary education system is the foundation of a strong nation. I deeply respect the aspirations, sentiments, and just expectations of the country’s youth. Fulfilling the dreams of India’s young generation has been the moral commitment of all of us in political and social life.” I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve the nation under his visionary leadership.”

He further said, “However, irregularities were discovered in the NEET-UG exam held on May 3, 2026. The Government of India immediately took cognizance of this, entrusting the investigation to the CBI, canceling the exam, and rescheduling the exam. It was also decided to conduct the exam in CBT mode from next year. “During this period, our primary priority was to ensure the smooth conduct of the exam for over 2 million students. A whole-of-government approach was implemented. The state government, especially the district administration, played a crucial role in this, along with the Government of India. Furthermore, with the cooperation of students, guardians, and parents, the exam was completed on June 21, 2026. From day one, I took responsibility for this and never shied away from this situation.” It was my resolve that we will not let the prospects of any meritorious student be spoiled due to the examination mafia, we will not let any injustice happen to any student.
