Fire breaks out in baby care center in Delhi; probe ordered

A fire broke out in a baby care center located in Vivek Vihar area of Delhi on Saturday night. There were newborn children in it. When everyone was taken out, 6 infants had burnt to death, while 6 children were admitted to East Delhi Advanced NICU Centre. Seeing the condition of a child as critical, he was put on ventilator. He died on Sunday morning. The remaining 5 children are undergoing treatment.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has ordered an investigation into the incident. He has said that the culprits will not be spared. On the other hand, President Draupadi Murmu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have expressed grief over the incident. The President wrote on her X handle, ‘The news of the death of several children due to fire in a hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi is heart-wrenching. May God give strength to the bereaved parents and family to bear this loss. I wish for the speedy recovery of other children injured in this incident.’

The fire brigade has brought the fire under control. The hospital was completely doused in the fire. Along with this, the building adjacent to the hospital also caught fire, which has also been brought under control by the fire brigade team. The reason for the fire has not been clear. The fire brigade team says that the cause of the fire will be known only after investigation.

Fire official says that information about fire was received at New Born Baby Care Hospital located in Vivek Vihar at 11:32 pm on Saturday night. After about an hour of hard work, the fire was completely controlled.

As soon as information about the fire was received, local MLA and Delhi Assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goyal also reached the spot.
