Restaurant slapped with $ 62000 fine over double menu standard

Often you have seen or heard around you that pink color is seen associated with girls, if a boy buys something of pink color or wears clothes, then comments are made on it. In such a situation, the thing to note is that how can a color be related to a gender! It was a matter of color, for which a restaurant in Peru was slapped with a $62000 fine.

A restaurant in the Peruvian capital Lima has created separate menu cards for men and women customers. In which the women coming to the restaurant with the men are given a menu card which does not have the price written. Restaurant management assumes that the man accompanying the woman will pay the filled and hence the woman need not look at the price. This romantic restaurant is named ‘La Rosa Nautica’ in Lima. It is in the Peruvian capital of Lima and is also quite expensive.

What is the reason for this double menu

According to reports, men coming to the restaurant were given a blue menu card while women were given a golden colored menu card with no price written on it. However, the restaurant owner has given reasoning behind this. The restaurant owner says that “we want to give a good atmosphere to the women who come to dine, this menu card given by us is actually a message that you are relaxed. Enjoy special moments and flavors, don’t worry about money.”

Peru’s administration considered reason absurd, imposes $ 62000 fine

However, the Peru administration considered it an absurd argument and placed it in the category of discrimination and imposed a fine. The National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property rejected this argument, hearing the case of equal rights and summons to women. After the hearing, it was decided that women should not get equal rights and respect as men. Lilliana Caron, an institute official, said, “This may seem trivial, but in the end it is a malevolent idea, the restaurant was not only fined $ 62 thousand or 43.96 lakh but also was asked to do away with the double menu system”.
