KL Rahul to lead India in ODI series against South Africa

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian ODI squad for the South African tour. The selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma announced the team on Friday. KL Rahul has been made the new captain of Team India. Rohit Sharma will not play the ODI series due to injury. At the same time, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be the new vice-captain. Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to the ODI team after four years. The 18-member ODI team has six batsmen, two wicketkeepers, two all-rounders, two spinners and six fast bowlers.

Batsmen: KL Rahul (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rituraj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer
Wicketkeepers: Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan
All-rounders: Venkatesh Iyer, Washington Sundar
Spinners: Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin
Fast bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah (Vice-captain), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj

Venkatesh Iyer is the new face in the ODI team

All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer will be the new face in the team. At the same time, former captain Virat Kohli will be seen playing ODIs under another captain for the second time. Earlier, Kohli has played under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Rohit was battling a hamstring injury. He is currently rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
