Cheteshwar Pujara announces retirement from all formats of cricket

Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has retired from international cricket. He informed about his retirement on social media on Sunday. Pujara said- ‘When I made my debut in 2010 under the captaincy of Mahi Bhai. That moment was like a dream come true, because at that time the team had legendary players like Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Gambhir, Laxman. I grew up watching legends like Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, so it was one of the proudest moments of my cricket career.

“Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the national anthem and trying to give my best every time I stepped on the field – it is impossible to put into words what it really meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket. Thank you for all your love and support!” Pujara wrote in his post on his social media handle.

Pujara played his last international match in June 2023 (Test). His international career lasted 15 years. Pujara made his debut in international cricket in the year 2010. He made his debut against Australia in Bengaluru, which was a Test match.

In Test cricket, Pujara scored 7,195 runs in 176 innings of 103 matches at an average of 43.60. During this time, he has scored 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries. His best score has been 206* runs. In ODIs, he played 5 matches and scored a total of 51 runs with an average of 10.20, in which his best was 27 runs. He could not play any T20 International match.
