ODI World Cup 2023: Kohli’s 48 ODI ton powers India to 4th consecutive win
Team India won its 4th consecutive match on the trot in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023. India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets on Thursday at Pune ground. Bangladesh set a target of 257 runs, which India easily chased in 41.3 overs at the loss of three wickets. Virat Kohli played a brilliant century innings. He remained unbeaten after scoring 103 runs in 97 balls. He hit 6 fours and 4 sixes. KL Rahul scored unbeaten 34 runs in 34 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. Kohli has scored a century for the first time while chasing in the World Cup. This is the 48th century of his ODI career. Virat is now just one century away from equaling Sachin’s record of most ODI hundreds.
India made a great start while chasing the target. Captain Rohit Sharma (48 in 40 balls, seven fours, two sixes) and Shubman Gill (53 in 55 balls, five fours, two sixes) made a partnership of 88 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was dismissed by Mahmood Hasan in the 13th over while Gill became the victim of Mehdi Hasan Miraz in the 20th over. Shreyas Iyer contributed 19 runs in 25 balls. He hit 2 fours. Miraj dismissed Iyer in the 30th over. India lost 3 wickets at the score of 178, after which Kohli and Rahul took charge. Kohli and Rahul made a partnership of 83 runs for the fourth wicket to take India to victory.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat. Bangladesh scored 256 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs thanks to half-centuries from Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan. Liton Das scored the highest 66 runs for Bangladesh. Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets each for India.
