RCB beat CSK by 2 runs on the last ball in a thrilling match

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Chennai Super Kings by 2 runs in the 52nd match of IPL 2025 on Saturday. Ayush Mhatre’s 94 and Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 77 went in vain as the men in yellow suffered a defeat.

Chasing a target of 214 runs from RCB, in reply, CSK scored 211 for 5 in their 20 overs. Mhatre scored 94 off 48 balls with the help of five sixes and nine fours while Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 77 off 45 balls which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. The duo added 114 runs for the second wicket.

Lungi Ngidi returned with figures of 3/30 for RCB. It seemed that the home team’s chances were over in the 16th over. But CSK lost both Ayush Mhatre (94) and Ravindra Jadeja in the space of 4 balls. In the 17th over, Lungi Ngidi took two wickets in a row and the game turned again.

RCB had troubled the visitors but Yash Dayal’s no ball in the final over seemed to have settled the matter but Yash Dayal kept his composure and won the match for RCB.

Earlier, half-centuries from Jacob Bethell (55), Virat Kohli (62) and Romario Shepherd (53 not out) took RCB to 213 for five. Bethell and Kohli added 97 runs for the opening wicket while Shepherd smashed four fours and six sixes to score an unbeaten 53 off just 14 balls, the fastest half-century of the season and the joint second-fastest overall. For CSK, Mathisha Pathirana found his rhythm and length and returned figures of 3-0-36-3.
