India AI Summit 2026: India’s first AI city to be built in Bengaluru
A major announcement was made on the second day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. Bengaluru-based Indian artificial intelligence company Bharat1.AI announced plans to build India’s first “Humanity-First AI City.” This project will be developed in Bengaluru’s Sarjapura area, dubbed B1 AI Superpark.
According to the company, B1 AI Superpark will not only be a tech campus, but also a city-wide AI research and innovation hub. Here, agentic AI and physical AI systems will be tested, trained, and validated in real-world environments. Bharat1.AI states that future AI technology cannot rely solely on internet data; it requires real-world and structured data.
Highlights of B1 AI Superpark
The B1 AI Superpark will be built across approximately 500,000 square feet. It will house over 10,000 AI researchers, startups, university teams, and corporate partners. These campuses are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026. Infrastructure for high-density computing and large-scale simulations will be developed here. High-speed connectivity of up to 400Gbps will be provided, significantly accelerating AI model training and inference.
The importance of this project is further enhanced by the fact that AI systems are rapidly becoming a part of everyday life. Consequently, issues such as safety, trustworthiness, and compatibility with human values have become increasingly important, a concern for governments, users, and AI companies alike. Bharat1.AI believes that implementing autonomous and physical AI on a large scale without proper validation could be dangerous.
City-Level World Models Will Be Created
The first phase of Superpark will focus on developing a universal basic intelligence framework. City-Level World Models will be created using multimodal data. Research will also be conducted on linking agentic AI systems with India’s digital identity systems, such as Aadhaar.
Many of the country’s leading institutions are involved as partners in this mega project. These include IIT Kanpur’s Airawat Research Foundation, IISc Bangalore’s SPARC Center, IIT Kanpur’s Wadhwani School of AI, BITS Pilani, iSPIRT Foundation, and IIT Ropar. All these institutions will work together on robotics, autonomous infrastructure, and human-machine interaction. Bharat1.AI’s clear goal is to develop AI systems in India that are both reliable for technology and society.
