National Games 2025: Velodrome event to be held in Rudrapur

Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to take the historic initiative of organising all 34 games of National Games and 2 demo games in its own state. The Velodrome event, which was traditionally held in Delhi, will be held at Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium, Rudrapur this time. The announcement was made by Sports Minister Rekha Arya during the National Youth Day event held at Indira Gandhi International Stadium.

The Sports Minister Rekha Arya said on the occasion, “It is a proud moment for Uttarakhand that we are organising all the National Games events in our state. It is a testimony to our strong infrastructure and sports management capability. Bringing a sporting event like Velodrome to Rudrapur is historic for Uttarakhand.”

The Minister also said that Uttarakhand, which is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year, is setting new milestones in the field of sports as a young state.

The Velodrome at Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium, Rudrapur has been constructed at a cost of Rs 23.12 crore. It took 18 months to complete this project. On 13 December 2024, Rekha Arya inaugurated this velodrome equipped with modern facilities.

Organizing the National Games will not only strengthen the sports infrastructure of the state, but Uttarakhand will also move towards new opportunities in the field of tourism and economic development.
