Gates of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples opened on the auspicious occasion of Akshya Tritiya as Chardham Yatra began with the gates opening ceremony . Gates of Kedarnath and Badrinath will open on 24th April and 26th April respectively. Chief Minister Harish Rawat was present during the gate opening ceremony of Shri Gangotri and flagging off of Doli of Maa Yamuna from Kharsali to Yamunotri. He prayed for the happiness of State and successfully completion of Chardham Yatra.
While addressing the organized briefing programme in Kharasali Chief Minister Harish Rawat apprised that working plan has been prepared to stop the land sliding. Work is going on in this regard. Tenders have been allotted for rope way, related construction work will be started at earliest. CM directed the officials of PWD to prepare the estimation for broadening the Jankichatti-Yamunotri Dham foot path. He indicated that direct bus service would be start from Kharsali to Delhi.
While addressing the Media on returning Dehradun Chief Minister informed that there was good response of devotees on the first day of gates opening of Gangotri and Yamnotri . About 3 thousand devotees from the 12 states visited the Yamnotri. 55 foreigners tourists and devotees were included in it. Local people also present there. Enthusiasms of devotees and local people was remarkable as we got double energy from the joyous response of devotees and tourists. About 2500 devotees visited the first day of opening of Gangotri Shrine and worshiped the Maa Ganga. People from Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharastra, Bihar, Delhi, Uttar Pardesh and others states visited the shrines. CM said that he talked to the devotees himself. They expressed satisfaction over arrangements by government. Devotees who visited the shrines before, told that arrangements are better than earlier visits.
CM said more than 200 rooms in Private Huts and GMVN have been reserved for the Gangotri and Yamunotri according to received information. 750 rooms have been booked online. 80 Vehicles have been booked of Garhwal Motors Union although 150 Vehicles have been booked till 5th May. Vehicles other unions and Private Vehicles are not included in it. CM Rawat said that snow has been cleared from path way of Badrinath and will also be cleared from Bus station soon. Chief Minister expressed full confidence that Chardham Yatra would regain its prosperity this time . It is being appreciated that our people are working in unfavorable conditions. After a long time, local businessmen are beaming with positive smile with a hope of businessmen growth. Officials have been directed to be prepare for the arrangement of the additional tent colony in Kedarnath and Lancholi if needed. People from all over the world will be made aware about the possibilities of adventure tourism along with Harsil, Jageshwar, Madmaheshwar, Tungnath. We will make aware about our religious and cultural fairs.
