Monsoon rains have wrecked havoc in Uttarakhand. Heavy rain continues from the mountains to the plains. Despite the end of August, the rain is not slowing down. Today (September 1), a red alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in five districts including Dehradun. There is also a possibility of lightning and extremely intense rain in the remaining districts. A warning has been issued regarding landslides in the mountains and flood situation in the lower areas.
Heavy rain continues in most areas of the state including Dehradun
On Sunday, a period of heavy rain started in the afternoon in Dehradun and surrounding areas, which continued till evening. During this time, more than 50 mm of rainfall was recorded in most areas. Earlier, the overnight rain on Saturday also increased the difficulties.
Banbasa recorded 160 mm rainfall within 24 hours, apart from this Rishikesh also received 118 mm rainfall. Which is 900 percent more than normal. Most of the rivers in the state are in spate and roads are blocked due to landslides and rockfall in the mountains.

According to the Meteorological Center, today there may be very heavy rainfall in some places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Haridwar, as well as heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places. A red alert has been issued regarding this. An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall and lightning along with thunder in some remaining districts as well as very intense spells of rain.
