Electricity cut off in Uttarkashi villages for more than 27 hours
Power supply of 111 villages of Mori and Purola block of Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district was stalled due to fall of trees at Hogoli near Naogaon at 2 pm on Thursday afternoon. With this, people had to wait for about 27 hours without electricity. With no electricity, the villagers spent the night in support of the fireplace, lanterns and candles.
Locals told that a tree near Hudola in Naogaon fell into a pole of electricity. The collapse of the tree broke the electric poles and strings. Since then, the electricity supply was effected. He said that these days Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham journey has started. The area is buzzing with the tourists. With no supply of electricity, the hotel, the dhaba operator and the villagers are having trouble. Employees of the energy department are busy repairing the damaged line. On the other hand, Giri Raj, SDO of Power Corporation, Vadkot told that the power line was broken by the fall of the tree, due to which the power supply in the area was interrupted. Departmental employees have made the were able to restore the power supply around five o’clock on Friday evening.
