6.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Philippines

A powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake has struck the Philippines, causing widespread devastation. According to the latest information, at least 31 people have tragically died in the quake. Strong tremors were felt in several areas, including Cebu Island, causing numerous buildings to collapse and significant damage to others.

Rescue teams have been conducting rescue operations since Tuesday night. The US Geological Survey (USGS) initially reported the quake as a 7.0 magnitude, but later lowered the magnitude to 6.9.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 11 kilometers southeast of Calape, a town in Bohol province with approximately 33,000 people. People rushed out of their homes as soon as they felt the tremor.
