Selectors give injury update on Bhuvi, Bumrah and Pandya
The Indian team was selected for the three-match T20 series against Bangladesh starting on November 3 in Mumbai on Thursday. Along with this, the team has also been announced for the Test series. While the captaincy reigns of the T20 team has been given to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli will be seen leading the team in the Test series.
After the selection of the team, the Indian selectors have also made public the information related to the injury to the players. Chief selector of the Indian team MSK Prasad has told the media in a statement that a big update has been given about fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The committee of selectors has told that all these players will take time to be back playing for Team India.
Bhuvi may return soon
Jasprit Bumrah is struggling with a minor back stress factor, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has problems with the calf of his leg. At the same time, Hardik Pandya underwent treatment recently. In such a situation, their hopes of returning are low at the moment. However, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar may appear in the short format series against the West Indies in December.
Bumrah-Pandya likely to return this year
The selectors have also confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya will not be seen in any series till December, as they have suffered a major injury, due to which they need treatment and then a longer rest. In such a situation, one can say that Bumrah and Pandya are expected to go on a tour of New Zealand. However, the selectors have not given any concrete information about this.
In the absence of Hardik Pandya against Bangladesh, Team India selectors have given Shivam Dubey a place in the team. Apart from this, Sanju Samson has also returned to T20 international cricket after four years. At the same time, Shubman Gill and again got a place in the Test team. However, he did not get a chance to play a single match against South Africa.
