Meteor lights up Norway’s sky

A large meteorite appeared in the sky of Norway on Sunday. People heard the thunder of this meteor body in the sky and saw the light. Experts say that some part of it may have fallen near the capital Oslo. However, there is no news of any damage so far.

The news of the sighting of the meteorite started coming from the city of Trondheim at around 1 am. A web camera installed in the town of Holmstrand captured fireballs falling from the sky. Norway’s Meteor Network is analyzing video footage to try to determine the meteor’s origin and where it fell. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the meteorite may have fallen in a wooded area of ​​Finnemarka, 60 km from Oslo.

Billet said that the meteorite was moving at a speed of 15-20 km per second and its brightness was visible in the sky for about 5-6 seconds. Some even said that they felt a strong wind gust with the incident, which also created a pressure wave.

Billet said a large rock was expected to have originated between Mars and Jupiter. In 2013, a meteorite fell near the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia. Due to this 1200 people were injured and many buildings were damaged.
