India to provide 8 million doses of J&J vaccines by October end: PM Modi at Quad summit

India will provide 8 million (80 lakh) doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine under the Quad Vaccine Partnership by the end of October. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an announcement in this regard at the summit. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla gave this information on Friday. Shringla said that the Quad nations, including India, would pay for the vaccines. The leaders of the US, India, Australia and Japan held the first individual Quad leaders meeting in Washington. During this, he expressed his commitment to work together to stop the corona pandemic.

Shringla said that the Prime Minister not only announced the resumption of exports of vaccines, but at the request of the Quad, the Prime Minister said that India would provide 80 lakh doses of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine. This vaccine will be ready by the end of October in line with our decision to resume exports. Quad countries will pay for the vaccine and India will bear a certain part of it.

He said that the world is battling COVID-19 and the Quad members have once again come together in the interest of humanity. In his brief speech, Prime Minister Modi said that the vaccine initiative of the Quad will help the Indo-Pacific countries.
