Results of over 1 lakh aspirants stuck in Uttarakhand Forest Guard recruitment over rules

The job process has again been stuck in the recruitment of 1218 vacant posts of Uttarakhand Forest Guard. Due to which one and a half lakh candidates applying will have to wait further. After amending the Recruitment Rules by the Forest Department, now the Common Recruitment Rules 2008 of the Personnel Department are coming in the way.

The Subordinate Services Selection Commission makes direct recruitment as per the rules of the Personnel Department. Commission stuck in dilemma due to different rules of forest and personnel department, will now seek permission from the government.

Recently, the Forest Department had amended the rules for the recruitment of forest guards. In this, before the physical examination, provision was made for the written examination of the candidates and only 25 km run for the physical test.

But the Department of Personnel has issued Common Rules for direct recruitment in 2008. The Subordinate Services Selection Commission also recruits the posts of Group ‘C’ as per the rules of the Personnel Department.

The selection commission is in a dilemma about the rules of the Forest and Personnel Department. On the basis of which rules to recruit forest guards, now the commission will take permission from the government for this. Only then will the recruitment process begin.

Recruitment process is stuck in limbo since the year 2017

On August 3, 2017, on the proposal of the Forest Department, the Selection Commission had issued a release for the posts of Forest Guard, but the government stopped the recruitment process regarding the age limit as soon as the application started. After which the Forest Department increased the maximum age limit from 24 years to 28 years. Then in June 2019 the application process started.

One and a half lakh candidates applied for these posts. For conducting physical test, the Commission had sent the record of the candidates to the Forest Department, but the department was not able to do the physical test.

For the recruitment of forest guards, the Forest Department has amended the manual, but the manual of the Department of Personnel does not have a provision for conducting written examination before the physical test. Opinion will be sought from the government for whether or not to recruit on the basis of departmental manuals.
