New Dehradun-New Delhi expressway to drastically reduce travel time
In the third phase of the proposed expressway between Delhi and Dehradun, another 400 meter long double lane tunnel will be built at Dat Kali Mandir. The National Highway Authority of India has started the work of constructing a DPR for this tunnel. It is known that the Union Road Transport Ministry has approved the construction of expressway between Delhi and Dehradun.
Under this, the four-lane expressway from Delhi to Dasna, Savli, Saharanpur, Ganeshpur to Dehradun is to be built. A considerable part of this project has been completed, while now a 19 km stretch between Ganeshpur to Dehradun is to be built. Along with the tender process for the project, work is also being started for making detailed project reports.
NHAI officials said that under the project, another tunnel of around 400 meters will be built along the elevated road at Dat Kali. It will be built near the existing double lane tunnel. Recently, a 340-meter-long double tunnel has been built in Dat Kali, but the new tunnel will be longer than this. Apart from this, Dat Kali has an old single lane tunnel of British times. There will be three tunnels here after the construction of new tunnel.
The journey from Doon to Delhi will be done in three hours
NHAI officials said that people have to travel 250 km long national highway to go to Delhi via Dehradun to Haridwar. It takes five to six hours and continues to be a problem of frequent jams, but the new expressway is being built bypassing many cities in between. There will be no problem of jam. The length of this expressway will be around 200 km and people will reach Delhi from Doon in three to four hours.

More than 2400 trees are coming in the way of this project along with a hundred year old guest house in Mohand. NHAI is going to start work on the project after some time after the DPR and tender process of the project.
Efforts are being made to complete the Doon-Delhi Expressway project soon. After the construction of this project, the distance from Delhi to Dehradun will be reduced and the journey of people will become easier. It will also prove to be an important project in terms of investment and economic activities in the state.
