CBSE class XII Board Exams 2021 canceled

Due to the second wave of Coronavirus in the country, CBSE Class 12th examinations have been canceled for the year 2021. This decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the examination. Apart from Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the Secretary of School Education and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education attended this high-level meeting regarding the conduct of CBSE examinations amid the outbreak of the pandemic.

The meeting was also attended by the chairman of CBSE. In this meeting, the Prime Minister was informed of all options for conducting the examination. However, after the meeting it was concluded that it would not be right to conduct CBSE 12th examination during the Corona period. After this, it was decided to cancel these examinations. Later, whenever the examination will be conducted, the parents of the children will be informed about it.

All options were placed before the Prime Minister

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of CBSE, Secretary, Ministry of Education, besides Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajnath Singh and Prakash Javadekar. This meeting was done through video conferencing. According to the sources, all the options for conducting the examination were placed before the Prime Minister. These options were prepared after long discussions with the state governments and the CBSE board.

What the Prime Minister said

On the decision to cancel the CBSE 12th examination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the health and safety of the students is the first priority, which cannot be compromised. The tension that has arisen among students, parents and teachers regarding the exam should be ended. All the stakeholders should show sensitivity in this matter.

The PM said that the situation of Covid is unstable. In some states of the country, where the rate of infection is decreasing by creating micro-containment zones, in some places there is still a lockdown. In such a situation, parents, teachers and students themselves are also worried about their health. In such a stressful environment, students should not be pressurized to appear in the board exams.
