Novak Djokovic celebrates being World No 1 for 250th week

Novak Djokovic of Serbia remains on the first position in the latest ranking of the Tennis Professional Association (ATP) released on Monday. With this, he has been able to keep his record of being in the top spot for the 250th week. According to ATP, Djokovic has been at No. 1 for a total of 250 weeks since the beginning of his career. Since 1973, only four players have been able to do the same. Novak Djokovic has won 15 Grand Slam titles. Ahead of him are only his rivals Roger Federer (20) and Rafael Nadal (17).

Roger Federer of Switzerland has the record of being the number-one player for most time in the male tennis. He has been No. 1 in the ATP Singles ranking for 310 weeks. America’s Pete Sampras (286), Ivan Lendl (270) and Jimmy Connors (268) have also been number one for more than 250 weeks.

Four changes were noticed in the top-10 in the ATP ranking released on Monday. Roger Federer has moved one place from the fourth spot to the third. Roger Federer has removed Germany’s young Alexander Zverev from third place to fourth place. On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas, the youngster from Greece, displaced big serving American John Isner from the 9th spot.

In the current rankings, Spain’s Rafael Nadal is second on the list. Dominic Thiem of Austria in 5th, Kevin Anderson of South Africa 6th , Kei Nishikori of Japan seventh and Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina are on the eighth place. India’s Prajnesh GunneSwaran has made a jump of four places. He has moved from 92th place to 88th position.

Djokovic currently holds all three Grand Slams and will be looking to equal his record of holding all the 4 slams when he enters the French Open later in the month.
