The future looks blurry for The Kapil Sharma Show

The recent mid-air spat between Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover that happened in Melbourne -Mumbai Air India flight led to some serious consequences for The Kapil Sharma Show. One of the highest rated shows of Indian television, TKSS is now struggling to get its old actors back to shoot for the next episode which is set to air on April 2.

The show will complete one year on April 24. And it doesn’t help that the main face of the show, former cricketer and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu is also busy with his political commitments, and is unable to shoot this week. So along with actors Sunil Grover, Chandan Prabhakar, Ali Asgar, even Navjot Singh Sidhu might not be seen in the upcoming episodes of the show. The host himself is also presently out of India shooting for his film Firangi and will return only on April 2.

Currently, talks are being held with Krushna Abhishek, Sudesh Lahiri, Raju Srivastav, Rajiv Thakur, Sunil Pal, and Ahsaan Qureshi to fill in the gaps left by Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, and Chandan Prabhakar. In fact last week many comedians from the The Great Indian Laughter Challenge appeared in a special episode on the show, and this trend will continue in the coming weeks as well.

The three actors, namely Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar, are still upset with how Kapil misbehaved with them on the flight. Though Kapil had later apologised on the social media, but looks like the three actors are in no mood to shoot for the show further. The other actors like Sugandha Mishra and Kiku Sharda, who were also present at the time of the fight, have still not confirmed about their presence on the show.

This week, that’s on Saturday, April 1, one pre-shot episode with the Great Indian Laughter Challenge artists will be aired on the channel.  While on Sunday, thanks to the Indian Idol finale episode, TKSS will not be aired. But the makers of the show are still clueless about what they are going to do for the next episode.

In fact it is quite surprising that Krushna Abhishek, who was Kapil Sharma’s rival, will now be sharing screen space with him in TKSS. It was Krushna’s show Comedy Nights Bachao that had replaced Comedy Nights with Kapil.

Seems like Sony is trying to get the best talents of the industry to fill in Sunil Grover’s space.

Currently the teams of Sony and Kapil Sharma producers are in talks with Sunil Grover to convince him to come back on the show. And he might relent for same on his own terms and conditions. Similarly, the other actors are also being convinced to join the show back. Some news reports suggest that this might be an April fool prank by the team.

So, as of now, The Kapil Sharma Show is very much there but the audience will get to see many new things in terms of content in the upcoming episodes of the show.
