Jaspreet Bumrah’s career best performance helps India beat England in 1st ODI

The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and England was played at the Kennington Oval ground in London. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s career best bowling performance and Mohammed Shami’s fine bowling bowled England to 110 runs in 25.2 overs in the first ODI on Tuesday. Team India needed 111 runs to win. The men in blue won the match by scoring 114 runs in just 18.4 overs without losing a wicket. For India, Rohit Sharma scored 76 runs in 58 balls and Shikhar Dhawan scored 31 runs in 54 balls. With this win, India took a 1-0 lead in the series. The second match will be played on Thursday.

Batting first after losing the toss, Jasprit Bumrah gave the first blow to the England team in the second over. Jason Roy chopped on a wide delivery from Bumrah onto his stumps in the second over. Bumrah pushed England on the back foot by dismissing Joe Root on the last ball of the same over. The third blow to England was given by Mohammed Shami while dismissing Ben Stokes for a golden duck. The fourth wicket of the hosts fell on the score of 17 in the form of Bairstow. England got the fifth blow in the form of Liam Livingstone on the score of 26. This wicket has also been taken by Jasprit Bumrah. After the dismissal of Livingstone, Moeen Ali shared a 27-run partnership with captain Butler, but on a personal score of 14, he gave his wicket to the Prasidh Krishna. Mohammed Shami, who came with the 15th over, dismissed Jos Buttler. England’s 7th wicket had fallen for 59 runs. Butler scored 30 runs. In the 17th over, Mohammed Shami gave India the 8th breakthrough by dismissing a Craig Overturn. In the 24th over, Bumrah got the 5th wicket by bowling Carse on a personal score of 15. England lost their last wicket for 110 runs, Bumrah bowled Willie to end up with 6 wickets against his name.

For India, the Dhawan-Sharma partnership notched up their 18th century stand helping India win inside 20 overs. The visitors won by a thumping margin of 10 wickets.
