Record breaking heat worldwide in August, 2023 second hottest year after 2016

With changing times, changes in weather patterns are also seen. The weather takes many turns in every corner of the world with summer, winter and rain, but for some time now the earth’s temperature has been rising up rapidly. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the most intense heat so far has been recorded this year in the Earth’s Northern Hemisphere.

High temperature with record heat in August

The month of August witnessed record heat with high temperatures. The WMO and the European climate service Copernicus reported on Wednesday that last month was not only the hottest August ever recorded, but it was also the second warmest since July 2023.

Scientists have measured this temperature with the help of high tech equipment. This showed that the month of August this year was almost 1.5°C warmer than the limit of temperature increase, not only that, but the limit of 1.5°C has been there for more than decades, not just a month, scientists said.

WMO and Copernicus said the world’s oceans experienced the hottest temperatures ever recorded, at nearly 21 degrees Celsius. This temperature has remained at the high temperature mark for three consecutive months.

2023 second hottest year after 2016

Copernicus reports that 2023 is set to be the second hottest year on record since 2016. Scientists have attributed this extreme heat to increased climate change caused by man-made burning of coal, oil and natural gas, as well as the added pressure of the natural El Niño.

What is El Nino?

The process of temporary warming of some parts of the Pacific Ocean is called El Nino. Due to this, weather conditions change all over the world. El Nino began earlier this year and typically brings additional warming to global temperatures.
