High level meetings held after clash in LAC

An Indian Army officer and two soldiers lost their lives during a clash with soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army of China in the Galwan Valley of the eastern Ladakh region on Monday night.

During the skirmish at the stand-off point in Galwan Valley, an Indian Army officer and two soldiers were killed. In a statement issued by the Indian Army, during the exercise of retreating forces in Galwan Valley, there was a clash on Monday night and one officer and two soldiers were martyred. Casualties have been reported from the Chinese side as well after Indian army’s response, but the number could not be ascertained.

The army said that in order to control the tense situation, senior military officials of both countries are currently  holding meeting . A meeting is going on between the military officers of the two countries since early morning today.

At the same time, after the dispute with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Modi government has come into action after the loss of three Indian Army men. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh summoned the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, including the Chief of the three Services. alongwith Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar.

India and China have been having a dispute over the Ladakh border for quite some time. On Monday night, there was a violent clash between the armies of the two countries.

In fact, the dispute over the India-China border has been going on for the past several days. China has been consistently saying that it wants to resolve the matter through dialogue, but it is refusing to back down. India had made it clear that the Chinese soldiers would have to retreat. India will not accept the changed situation on LAC.

In the past, it was decided between the two countries that the Chinese army would retreat from the Patrolling Points 14, 15 and 17A in the Galwan Valley. The Chinese army had come to the mouth of the Shyok River and Galwan River. After discussions, it was also slowly retreating, but had not fully retreated. It was decided yesterday that the Chinese army will go back completely.
