Firing incident reported near Pentagon

There has been indiscriminate firing near a metro station near the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defense. There is news of a person being shot in it. It is being told that the headquarters were closed after firing on Tuesday morning.

The Pentagon said on social media that the lockdown had been imposed after sealing the Pentagon area due to police action but was lifted later. According to a Defense Department spokesperson, the lockdown decision was taken following the firing incident near the Metro bus platform.

An alert was sent to the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) soon after the incident. Defense Department officials have been asked to stay inside. According to media reports, there is no information about the arrest of the gunman so far. Police is conducting search operation in the entire area. An Associated Press (AP) journalist heard gunshots several times.

There is activity related to the defense of America in the Pentagon. Shortly after, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency gave an update saying, ‘The lockdown has been lifted from the Pentagon and reopened. Corridor 2 and Metro entry point will remain closed. Corridor 3 is open for pedestrians.’
