Over a million effected by power cut in Britain
Around 10 lakh people were affected in several areas of England and Wales on Friday due to disrupted power supply. Due to this, the electricity of the houses went down and the transport system was affected. The media gave this information.
According to the BBC, the national grid, the electricity system operator in the country, said that power supply was disrupted on Friday due to problems in two power generators.
But now it has been fixed. There was no electricity in the Midlands, South East, South West and North East of England and Wales. About 300,000 people were affected in London and the southeastern part of the country, while 500,000 people were affected by the Western Power Distribution Network.
Hundreds of people were stranded at Kings Cross station due to power problems, as trains were running late and many trains were canceled. By 9 pm, more than 1,000 passengers appeared stranded at King’s Cross. Meanwhile, the London North-Eastern Railway and the National Railways advised all passengers not to travel. Traffic lights also stopped working in some areas.
The Transport Department had said, “Today (Friday) the journey has been affected due to disrupted power supply.” Passengers at Newcastle Airport said the power went on for about 15 minutes, but Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports said they were not affected.
