Over 800 roads damaged due to heavy rains in Himachal

Heavy rains have caused a lot of destruction in Himachal Pradesh. 23 people have died due to overnight rain. More than 800 roads and 13 national highways are closed in the state. Two bridges have broken in Kullu. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in six districts of the state. Heavy rains may occur in Mandi, Kangra, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Bilaspur. Teaching institutes in Sirmour, Solan, Shimla, Bilaspur and Kullu will remain closed on Monday. Orange alert has been issued in five districts.

Beas is showing its torrential form in the district mandi. The Beas flood has submerged the Panchavaktra temple and many vehicles have perished in the strong currents of the river. Seven houses have been demolished in Kathlag village of Bilaspur district due to subsidence. Luckily the villagers felt that the land was sinking beforehand, otherwise there could have been heavy loss. All the people escaped in the midnight and saved their lives. In Santoshgarh of Una district, the houses and hospitals have been flooded with rain water. The Chamba district is cut off from the rest of the world. Kullu’s contact has also been cut by midnight. In Chamba and Kullu, no necessary supplies of any kind could be supplied.

Eight people died in Shimla

Eight people have died in Shimla. More than 12 people have been injured. A house was submerged in a landslide caused by rain near the capital’s RTO office, killing three people.
