A woman’s body was found hanging from a tree barely few paces away from the Secretariat on Friday morning.
The woman is said to be between 35 year to 40 year of age and cops maintained she appeared to be a labourer. “Efforts are on to trace her identity. Some people have said that she belonged to Patel Nagar area of Dehradun but the fact is yet to be confirmed,” SP City Ajay Singh told TOI.
On basis of the initial findings, the SP maintained that it appeared to be a case of suicide. On being asked about the possibilities of rape, Singh said, “It does not appear so but the fact will only come to the fore after the post mortem.”
The body was found hanging from a tree in a plot near a hotel opposite the state secretariat building on the Rajpur road. The woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree with her saree. According to cops, the CCTV footage of the area was being examined to get evidences in the matter.
