Tirath Singh Rawat takes oath as 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand

Tirath Singh Rawat took over as the 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. At the ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Governor Baby Rani Maurya administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat. He took the oath alone. The plan to swear the two ministers together was postponed.

BJP’s National Vice President and Central Supervisor Raman Singh said that the cabinet will also take oath in the next two-three days. Earlier, Tirath Singh Rawat was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party meeting. The exercise of political change that has been going on in Uttarakhand for the last five days culminated on Wednesday, when the name of Tirath Singh Rawat, MP from Pauri Garhwal seat for the post of Chief Minister was agreed upon.

Tirath Singh Rawat was unanimously elected as the Leader of the Party Legislature Party at a meeting of BJP Legislative Assembly at around 11 am. At the meeting, Acting Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat proposed the name of Tirath Singh as the Legislature Party leader.

Union Education Minister and Haridwar MP Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Rajya Sabha Member Naresh Bansal, former Ministers Arvind Pandey, Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, Satpal Maharaj, Subodh Uniyal, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Rekha Arya and Harbans Kapoor stamped their approval for TS Rawat to be the new CM. This resolution was passed unanimously.

National vice-president and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and state BJP in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam were also present in the meeting. All the MPs attended the meeting except Anil Baluni, a Rajya Sabha member from Uttarakhand and BJP’s national media in-charge. Almora MP Ajay Tamta also reached the meeting.
