CSK first to qualify for IPL playoffs 2021
Chennai Super Kings captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the first team to reach the playoffs in the 44th match of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They over came the last placed team in the points table Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets. The men in yellow, first stopped Hyderabad for 134 runs for 7 wickets. After this, they scored 139 runs for 4 wickets in 19.4 overs and won. MS Dhoni hit a winning six. This is CSK’s 9th win in the tournament and they have qualified for the playoffs with 18 points.
In the 2020 season, the team led by Dhoni could not reach the playoffs for the first time. After that, they made a strong comeback this season and won the title of becoming the first team to reach the playoffs. On the other hand, Hyderabad’s journey full of ups and downs is now over in this season of IPL. This is his 9th defeat in 11 matches. Even if they win the 3 remaining matches, they will only have 10 points. In this it is impossible for them to reach the playoffs from any angle.
Earlier, a disciplined performance by the bowlers led by Josh Hazlewood and Dwayne Bravo allowed Chennai Super Kings to restrict SRH to 134 runs for 7 wickets. Hazlewood took three wickets for 24 runs which is his best performance in IPL. Bravo took two wickets for 17 runs. Wriddhiman Saha scored 44 runs for Sunrisers but for this he played 46 balls.
