Dehradun: A 26-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Ogal Bhatta in Clement Town police station limits in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The woman’s body was found on the floor while a rope was hanging from the ceiling fan.
The deceased – identified as Reena (who only uses her first name) – hailed from Thatyur in Tehri district and was pursuing her postgraduation from a college in Dehradun. She was living in her parents’ house in Dehradun with two female tenants.

“She was found dead by the tenants when they entered her room on Monday morning. They informed police about the incident. The body has been taken into custody,” said Hari Om Pawar, in charge of Clement Town police station.

The parents of the victim are suspecting foul play and have called the death a ‘murder’. They said that since the body of their daughter was found lying on the floor, and not hanging, it was not a case of suicide.

A police official, however, said, “It seems that the knot got untangled later by the weight of the body. We are investigating the incident.”

Police said that two notes were recovered from the room. “In one of the notes, she had written that she was looking for a job but was not getting it, while in another note, she mentioned about a person she loved and wanted to marry,” said station in charge Hari Om Pawar.
