Delhi gets 20 feet tall smog air purifier

In order to curb the ever increasing pollution in the capital Delhi, the work of installing smog towers on the lines of China has started. The first smog tower in Delhi is installed in Lajpat Nagar Central Market. This air purifier will purify the air within a radius of 750 meters. With the installation of smog free tower, 2.5 to 6 lakh cubic meters of air can be purified daily. The Smog Tower will cost 30 thousand rupees every month, which will be borne by the market association. It was inaugurated by former India cricketer and current BJP MP from Delhi Gautam Gambhir.

The height of the Smog Tower is 20 feet. This tower will clear 250,000 to 600000 cubic meters of air daily in the 500-750 meter area. The tower will not let the AQI go above 50 by clearing the air within 2 hours.

Smog towers are installed on the order of the Supreme Court

After October, the level of pollution in the country’s capital becomes severe, after which the Supreme Court had asked the Delhi government to explore an alternative like smog tower. The Environmental Pollution Authority (EPCA) appointed by the Supreme Court had banned construction work and industrial activities till Wednesday.

After Diwali in Delhi, the air quality had become very bad. The air quality of the nation’s capital had become in the category of very poor due to continuous adverse weather conditions. The air quality index had reached 500. The EPCA had directed the Delhi Traffic Police to deploy a special team to ensure uninterrupted traffic especially in the marked corridor.

Startup company has also prepared smog tower

The startup company has built a 40-foot long purifier that can give clean air to 75,000 people living within its three-kilometer radius. Kurin Systems co-founder Pavneet Singh Puri said that the company has recently received a patent for “the world’s longest as well as the strongest purifier”. The World Intellectual Property Organization had recently given information about it. Puri said that a unique purifier made with the national capital in mind, can give clean air to 75,000 people living within a radius of three kilometers.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), six of the world’s ten most polluted cities are from India, with Delhi topping the list. According to a report published last year by Green Peace, 1.2 million people die every year due to air pollution in India. Kurin has named this purifier a ‘City Cleaner’.
