Indian squad for T20 series against Ireland announced; Jasprit Bumrah to lead

The Indian team has been announced for the tour of Ireland. Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Team India after 10 months. He will lead the Indian team on the tour of Ireland. Team India will play a three-match T20 series on Ireland tour. These matches will be played in Malahide from August 18 to 23.

Apart from Bumrah, the return of Prasidh Krishna

Bumrah played the last international match in September 2022. It was a T20 match against Australia. Bumrah could not even play Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year due to injury. He was suffering from back stress fracture. However, for a long time he was practicing at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Bumrah has already taken command of the Indian team. However, it was a Test match. Bumrah will captain for the first time in T20. Bumrah captained the re-scheduled fifth Test between India and England in 2022. Then Rohit Sharma was injured. Apart from him, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has also returned to Team India. Prasidh last played for India in August 2022. He was also battling a back injury.

India’s regular T20 team members Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami and Siraj are not part of the team on the tour of Ireland. Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Verma, who were involved in the T20 series against West Indies, have been given a chance in the series against Ireland.

Senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also not been selected in the T20 squad once again. Rohit and Virat haven’t played any T20 matches for India since the 2022 T20 World Cup. Although, both of them have not retired from T20 format yet, but it is believed that both of them have disappeared from India’s T20 plan.
