12 arrested in two sex racket bust in Haridwar

In a joint operation of Haridwar police and anti human trafficking cell, two sex rackets have been busted on Wednesday in Haridwar. Police arrested seven accused while five girls were rescued in which four of them are from Uttar Pradesh and one woman was brought from Haryana.

The first racket came to light in Kangri village of Shyampur police station in Haridwar in which five accused including 30-year-old woman were arrested. SP city Mamta Vohra said, “She was brought to Haridwar for sex trade. The accused have been indentified as Shokat Ali from Indria Nagar, Kotdwar who is property dealer by profession, and his driver Shahid, Yogendra, a local businessman and his friend Shailendra from Shivalik Nagar, Haridwar. They were all customers and this racket had been running for the past several months.”

Meanwhile, a team of anti human trafficking cell officials and Kaliyar police raided in a guest house in Kaliyar, and arrested seven persons including four girls. This is fifth sex racket busted in Kaliyar since last two months.
