Rain, Snowfall alert in Uttarakhand on 7th January

The Meteorological Department has issued rain, snowfall alert and cold day warning across the state on Wednesday, January 7. On Monday, the incessant rains and snowfall caused not only cold in the mountains but also in the plains. Due to this, a red alert has been issued in the state.

The capital was cloudy on Monday with intermittent rains. In the plains, the weather became extremely cold with mild drizzle throughout the day. Even in the hilly areas, due to frost at night, the temperature is chilling.

Director of Meteorological Department Bikram Singh said that on January 7 and 8, there will be rain, hail and snowfall across the state. There may be hail storms in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri and Nainital on 7 January. On January 8, a red alert has been issued for heavy snowfall in areas above 2500 meters. The next two days have been predicted to be a cold day across the state.

Additional force sent to Mussoorie due to snowfall alert

Additional forces have been deployed in Mussoorie and Dhanaulti due to snowfall alerts. CO Mussoorie has been asked to camp in Mussoorie, so that tourists will not have to face any kind of problem. DIG Arun Mohan Joshi said that the next two days are the input of snowfall. In such a situation, there is a possibility of a large number of tourists reaching the hill station. In case of increasing pressure in Mussoorie, there is a plan to divert traffic from Doon itself.

Mercury dropped 4.3 degrees in Dehradun

In the capital, drizzle increased throughout the day on Monday. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of rain, hailstorm as well as cold day conditions for the next two days. Drizzle continued throughout the day. Day temperatures dropped by 4.3 degrees as compared to Sunday. The maximum temperature of the day on Sunday was 19.4 degrees.

The mercury fell to 15.1 degrees on Monday. The cold winds further increased with the rain. Due to this there were less people in the markets. Meteorological Director Bikram Singh said that there may be hail along with rain at various places in Dehradun on Tuesday. After this, a red alert for Cold Day has been issued on January 8. Presently people have been advised to avoid venturing out in the cold.
