Thousands take dip in Ganga on Makar Sankranti

On the day of Makar Sankranti, devotees in Dharmanagari put a dip of faith in the Ganges. The pilgrims started reaching Har-ki-Pauri in Haridwar from early morning on the auspicious occassion. Devotees donated wealth as well as after bathing.

On Sunday, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, devotees came from far of places like states of Delhi, Punjab, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Despite being the cold weather, pilgrims were seen thronging to the Ghats for a dip in the holy river. The devotees sought happiness and prosperity afterbathing in the Brahmakund situated in the Har-ki-Pauri.

The pilgrims offered a obeisance to the the sun God and plunged into the Ganges for a dip. According to the police, more than three lakh people had taken a dip in Ganga on Makar Sankrati. Meanwhile, SSP Krishna Kumar VK and SP City Mamta Vohra reviewed security arrangements at other places including Har-ki-Pauri.
