Forest fire spreads over 33 thousand square km in Canada

The worst fire ever recorded in Canada’s forests is leaving behind a trail of destruction. Its effect is being seen in almost all the 10 provinces and cities there. According to officials, the situation is likely to worsen by August. So far, an area of about 33 thousand square km has been burnt. This is 13 times more than the average of the last 10 years and is bigger than the total area of Belgium. Because of this, more than 120,000 people had to leave their homes.

There are currently 413 forest fires burning in Canada, out of which the situation is out of control in 249 cases. Its smoke has now started spreading in many states of America apart from Canada. An air alert has been issued for New York, Minnesota, Queens and Massachusetts.
