New mobile subscribers to get 13 digit mobile numbers from July 1 onwards

There is a big change in mobile numbers from July 1 in India. Mobile number have 13 digits from July 1, 2018. Customers receiving new numbers from 1st July 2018 will be given a 13-digit mobile number. Preparations for this have almost been completed. Government has issued instructions to all the states for this.

Approximately 48 million mobile users in India

The number of mobile Internet users in India is expected to reach 47.8 million by June. According to the report published jointly by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMI) and Contar-IMRB, it has been reported that the number of mobile Internet users increased by 17.22 percent to 45.6 million users by the end of December 2017. This report shows the popularity of mobile internet in the country, which is becoming popular due to being economical. It has been stated in the report that the yearly growth rate in urban India was 18.64 per cent, whereas in rural India the estimated growth rate (December 2016 to December 2017) was 15.03 per cent.
According to the media report, in this meeting, the telecom department officials said that there was no scope for issuing new mobile numbers having 10 digits. Therefore, this requirement was already felt that there should now be a series of mobile numbers with more than 10 digits. After this, they will be made up of 13 numbers.

Number digits not changing for the first time

This is not happening for the first time when the telecom ministry has made such a decision. Earlier, in November 2002, all telephone numbers of the country were preceded by the number 2, due to which all telephone numbers had changed. In which the number of telephone used in metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai increased from 7 points to 8 digits. At the same time, the number of tier-two-city telephone numbers was 6 digits to 7 digits.

All systems will be updated

According to the Department of Telecom, all telecom operators will have to update their systems after the new mobile number series arrives. In this regard, the order has been issued to all the circle telecom companies. According to senior official of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, by December 2018 the old numbers will also be updated under this process. However, it is not yet decided how to update the currently running numbers. This process will start from October and will be completed by December 31. Officials are unable to decide whether extra 3 digits, to be added in old numbers or to the rear side.
