Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off the country’s first bio-fuel aircraft, Spice Jet, at Jolly Grant Airport on Monday. After the flag off, the aircraft flew to Delhi. It has been made with mixture of bio-fuel Jatropha oil and hydrogen. For this, the plant has been set up at IIP. Bio Jet fuel is being prepared in the institute. Jatropha seeds have been purchased from Chhattisgarh through bio-fuel Development Authority. Earlier, this bio-fuel basted Spice Jet was also tested. It was reported that commercial aircrafts using bio-fuel in countries like America and Canada had already taken flights. On the occasion of the flag off, Minister of State for Women Welfare and Child Development Rekha Arya, IIP Director Anjan Kumar Ray, from Spice Jet J.P.Gupta, Captain Satish Chander Pandey and scientists from IIP were present.
