British PM Boris Johnson cancels Republic Day visit to India
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has canceled his India tour. Boris Johnson was the chief guest on the occasion of Republic Day this year. According to Reuters, he has canceled his tour of India due to Corona’s new strain outbreak in the UK. He has also expressed his regret over cancellation.
Giving information, the UK administration said that Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke to Prime Minister Modi this morning and regretted not being able to come to India. Speaking to the PM, he said that the speed with which the new Coronavirus version is spreading in the UK is important for him to stay in the UK so that he can focus on the domestic response to the virus.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has once again imposed a lockdown in Britain due to the new strain of Corona infection. Announcing the lockdown, Boris said that due to Corona, a new national lockdown is being implemented by mid-February. Addressing the nation on Monday night, Boris said that this is a difficult time for the country. Corona cases are increasing rapidly in the country. At the moment, people will have to stay in the house during lockdown, they can only get out of the house for necessary work. Significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had formally invited his UK counterpart.
After accepting the invitation, the External Affairs Minister of India, S. Jaishankar, expressed happiness that this would be the beginning of a new era in relations between India and Britain.
