Per capita GDP of China crosses USD 10000 for the first time

The per capita gross domestic product (GDP) of the world’s largest population, China, crossed $ 10,000 for the first time in 2019. This has been revealed in the official data released on Friday.

China’s National Bureau of Statistics director Ning Jizhe said China’s GDP per capita reached $ 10,276 in 2019. This calculation is done on average exchange rate.

According to the data, China’s per capita expendable income in 2019 stood at 30,733 yuan ($ 4,461.95), showing an increase of 5.8 percent on actual basis.

Similarly, the per capita consumer expenditure in the country grew by 5.5 percent on a real basis (constant price) to 21,559 yuan ($ 3143.44) in 2019.

China has set a target of doubling the per capita income of its urban and rural population by 2020 compared to 2010.

According to the World Bank, in the year 2018, the countries whose per capita GDP was more than $ 10,000 had a total population of 150 crores.
