MSD speaks up on retirement speculations

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has kept himself out of Team India since the World CupĀ  2019, has finally broken the silence about his return. On Wednesday, in the question asked about his return to the team, Dhoni said clearly, ‘Nothing should be asked in this matter till January’. At an event in Mumbai, when he was asked questions about his return to his team and asked about his planning, Dhoni said, “Don’t ask till January”.

He has kept distance from cricket after the team’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in the World Cup. Dhoni was spotted practicing with the Jharkhand Under-23 team in Ranchi a few days ago, following which a new round of speculation began on his possible return.

Dhoni, who played against New Zealand for the last time in the World Cup, also kept himself away from the tour of the West Indies and the home series against South Africa-Bangladesh. He has also decided to distance himself from the ODI series against the West Indies starting on December 6.

Since Dhoni continued to distance himself from the team, speculation about his retirement has intensified and everyone is worried about the uncertainty of his career.

BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly and coach Ravi Shastri have also asked him to take a decision on his return and retirement. Even the selectors has expressed opinion to look beyond Dhoni and give opportunity to new and young players.
