According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck Uttarkashi region in Uttarakhand on Saturday morning. The earthquake occurred in the area of ​​Tehri Garhwal, 39 km east of Uttarkashi. The tremors of the earthquake were felt around 5:00 am. The epicenter of the earthquake was latitude 30.72 and longitude 78.85. At the same time its depth was 28 km.

There is currently no report of any damage to property due to the earthquake.

According to scientists, Uttarakhand has always been very sensitive to earthquakes. The possibility of a major earthquake here in the coming times cannot be ruled out. Uttarakhand comes in the very sensitive zone five and sensitive zone four in terms of earthquakes. Talking about the very sensitive zone five, it includes most parts of Rudraprayag district, besides Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts. At the same time, the areas which are in sensitive zone four include Udhamsinghnagar, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Almora districts.
