Setback for Congress in National Herald case

Will have to vacate Herald house

In the Herald House case, Congress Party has suffered a major setback from the Delhi High Court on Friday. The Delhi High Court has ordered Congress Party to vacate the 56-year-old Herald House. After the court order, the Congress party will now have to vacate the Herald House within 2 weeks. Otherwise, action will be taken. The High Court on Friday refused to cancel the decision to cancel the lease of Center and Land Development Office and ordered Congress to evacuate the Herald House.

It is worth noting that on October 30, the agency had sent a notice to LNDO to vacate by November 15, which AJL challenged in the High Court. The Congress had challenged the decision to cancel the lease of LNDO in the High Court, but today the High Court dismissed the petition of AJL.

The petition was filed by the National Herald Publisher Associate Journals Limited (AJL) in the Delhi High Court. It was challenged in the Center’s order in which it asked to vacate the 56-year-old lease and evacuate the ITO situated premises building.

Justice Sunil Gaur, who is hearing the case, reserved his decision on November 22 on the petition filed by AJL against the notice of the government on October 30. The court had asked the Center on the last date that what is the explanation now about entering the premises again when the National Herald publication has started.

The Center and Land Development Office told the court that when the notice of re-entry was issued, when it started the proceedings in 2016, there was no printing or publication activity.
