Defeats Tsitsipas in straight sets to reach Australian Open Final

Rafael Nadal has stormed into the finals of the Australian Open 2019. The southpaw has looked formidable in this year’s Australian Open and took out Federer’s conqueror Stefano Tsitsipas in straight sets in the semi-final. The Mallorca native has been ruthless this season and is yet to drop a set in the tournament. Tsittsipas was defeated 6-2,6-4-6-0 in the semi final.

“I don’t know how Federer managed to beat him[Nadal] so many times” Tsitsipas was quoted as saying in his press conference after the match. Nadal did not break his service till 63 consecutive games and did not lose any set to reach the finals. Nadal will face the winner of the second semi-final between World No. 1 Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and France’s Lukas Pouli for his second Australian Open title. Nadal said after winning, ‘It was a great match. I played very well because I got enough energy from the audience. “

Nadal last reached the final in 2017 but lost to Federer in a 5 set thriller. 17 Grand Slam Winner Nadal won his only Australian Open 2009. Nadal had also reached the final in 2014, 2012, but was runner-up.
