WHO cautions against spread of delta variant of Coronavirus

The Delta variant of Corona, which was first found in India, has reached almost half the world. So far, its cases have been found in 96 countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has feared that it will become more dominant in the coming few months. That is, there is a danger of spreading it to many other countries. At the same time, the Alpha variant found in Britain has reached 172 countries so far.

WHO releases updates related to the pandemic every week. In an update on June 29, it has said that the Delta variant has been reported in 96 countries. However, as of now the ability to identify this variant is very limited. So it may be that less data has been revealed about it. It is also true that due to this variant in many countries, new cases have increased significantly.

Threats to the improving economy

The WHO said that the delta variant has emerged as a new threat to the recovering economy around the world. To prevent this, countries may need to implement security measures at the local level for a long time. However, it has been declared a variant of concern. This means that measures to prevent infection may have to be maintained for a long time.

Delta+ variant feared in India

India is currently recovering from the second wave of Corona. Meanwhile, another new threat has started looming. The delta variant was believed to be the reason for the second wave in the country. It has now maybe become even more lethal with the new changes. This new strain has been named Delta Plus. It is being said that it can spread twice as fast as the original virus. More than 50 cases of this new strain have been confirmed in India. Although detailed research is ongoing about this variant so anything conclusive cannot be said about it as f now.

Australia had to impose lockdown

In view of the danger of the Delta variant, Australia has imposed a two-week lockdown in Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong. It started on Saturday. The government has asked for strict enforcement of restrictions. According to the order, restrictions will remain in force throughout the state of New South Wales.
