19 students lose life in Surat coaching center fire

So far, 19 students have died due to fierce fire on Friday in Takshashila Complex in Surat, Gujarat. The cause of the accident is being described as a short circuit. The coaching center runs in this building, in which children started jumping out of the windows due to the fire. A video of this incident is also viral, in which students are seen jumping from the building due to fear of fire. Takshashila Complex is located in Sarthana area of ​​Surat. At the time the incident happened, 40 students were present in the building.

At the moment the fire has been controlled. But the work of securing people out of the building is continuing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his sorrow over this incident. He wrote, “Extremely anguished by the fire tragedy in Surat. My thoughts are with bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. Have asked the Gujarat Government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected.”.

The PM said that ,”I have asked the Gujarat Government to provide all kinds of assistance to the affected people from the local administration.” To control the fire, 18 fire brigade were on the spot. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He announced to give away Rs 4 lakh to the kin of the students who were killed in the accident. Earlier, Surat Police Commissioner Satish Kumar Mishra had said that 15 people were killed in the incident. He said that the number of people who died could increase.

In the relief and rescue work, the local people also helped the firefighters. A fire officer said that students stranded on the third and fourth floors started jumping from the building to save themselves. Many of these have been rescued and sent to the hospital.

How the fire started

The fire started in the transformer kept near the stairs which was a means to come and go into the building. As soon as the fire started the students tried to go down via these stairs. But due to the fire, they were stuck on the fourth floor, where there was a fiber shed and rubber mattress kept for the gym and the tire caused the fire to spread, causing the children to be caught in the fire.
