IAF gets its first Apache helicopter

The Indian Air Force, engaged in making itself more powerful, has got its first combat helicopter Apache Guardian. It is manufactured in the US of Arizona. India had signed contracts for 22 helicopters with the US. Before that the Air Force got the Chinook Heavylift Helicopter.

The Boeing AH-64E Apache is considered to be the world’s deadliest helicopter. Last year, the US had signed an agreement to give six AH-64E helicopters to the Indian Air Force. It will be deployed on China and Pakistan border.

The Indian Air Force has been troubled by the low firing range potential for the last few years. The number of fighter squadrons has dropped to just 31, which must be at least 42 in order to compete on both the China and Pakistan fronts. Attacks helicopters are very effective to combat terrorists and enemies in the mountains and forests.

Attack helicopters play main roles in front of enemy armored troops. But the attack helicopters present with the Air Force are more than three decades old. The arrival of Apache will greatly increase the capacity of the IAF. Apache is counted among the world’s best attack helicopters. These are equipped with machine guns to attack the rocket, anti-tank missiles and enemy targets on the ground. There are two crew members in it and they can strike effectively in every season.

Apache helicopter is part of the US Army’s Advanced Attack Helicopter Program. It has been part of the US Army for 4 decades. It is considered the world’s most dangerous fire helicopter. Now this helicopter is with Israel, Egypt and the Netherlands.
